Let’s Talk About Movie #4 : La La Land
I just watched this movie on 2026 and I completely understand now how people talk about it so much. The cinematography is absolutely beautiful. I fell in love with the colors of the sky, it feels like the entire movie was filmed inside a painting.
This movie is basically about two people struggling to achieve their dreams. Mia dreams of becoming an actress, while Sebastian dreams of owning a jazz bar. Both of them face the harsh reality that chasing your dreams is never easy.
At one point, Mia talks about Sebastian to her mom, in a very loving way, like imagining him owning his own jazz bar, without mentioning that he’s still struggling. Sebastian overhears this and all of that and feels guilty, thinking that Mia’s family would only accept him if he were already successful, which he wasn’t at that time. Because of that, he gives up on his dream and joins a band to become a ‘successful man’.
Mia supports Sebastian at first, but eventually becomes upset. She feels that this isn’t what Sebastian truly loves, and that it isn’t the dream he once talked about.
At this moment, I felt confused about why Mia was so mad at Sebastian. Was it because Sebastian became too busy with the band and not with her? Or was it because she felt insecure about herself, still struggling just to face auditions, while Sebastian was already finding success with his band, even though it wasn’t his dreams?
Overall this movie is incredibly beautiful, but the ending is something else. I loved it. How they both finally achieved their dreams.
